Ten Years Later, Claude VonStroke's "Who's Afraid of Detroit" Is Still Scary Good

Dirtybird celebrates the track's 10th birthday with a bouncy new remix from Visionquest, plus a pop-up shop and massive afterparty in Detroit.

Even though Claude VonStroke is currently based on the West Coast along with his San Francisco-bred Dirtybird label, he actually hails from the Midwest and spent most of his upbringing living in Detroit. So it's no surprise that in 2006, a dirty electro-tech jam called "Who's Afraid of Detroit" helped put him on the map and remains one of his most celebrated anthems. With its sinister grunts and dreamy synths, the track is a clear love letter to his Motor City roots.

To help celebrate the song's 10-year anniversary, VonStroke and Dirtybird have commissioned a fresh spread of Detroit-centric remixes for the 2006 jam, including a bouncy new take from the the city's own Visionquest trio. VonStroke's label squad will also be setting up a pop-up shop in the city throughout the Memorial Day Movement weekend, followed by an afterparty at the Masonic Temple on May 29 with Justin Martin, J.Phlip, Ardalan, and a special guest.
