Daniel Stefanik's Haste Midi Remix Is the Perfect Deep Techno Track to Start or End Your Night

If a lot of what people are calling deep house exists mere murmur of it's former funky self, then thank goodness the techno scene is keeping things alive. Because even if your techno night bangs, you need the tunes to get you up to speed, or alternately, to start the descent towards the end of the night. This remix by Daniel Stefanik of Luxembourg duo Haste Midi's "Fool" is superbly suited to handle either task. Probably because the DJ-producer from Leipzig, Germany has ample experience in opening and closing sets throughout the continent. He's the sort of working man's DJ hero whose command of his craft far eclipses any lack of international reputation.

Built around a smooth male vocal sample from 80s disco rarity, "Set It Out" by Midway (an alias of Detroit musician Bruce Nazarian, another unsung talent from dance music's deep well), the remix bounces smoothly with a funk that will get your feet shuffling if they aren't already—or keep them moving after many long hours on the floor. A double dip of 808 bass kick on every fourth bar ads an additional signature sound that means this is one transitional tune that you'll remember as well as any peak time DJ tool. You should only be listening to DJs clever enough to understand just how important gems like these really are.

Haste Midi will release their Fool EP February 29 on Lauter Unfug.
