Dean Blunt Shares Disaffected New Track, "Benidorm"

UK musician Dean Blunt shared a quizzical new track yesterday called "Benidorm" accompanied by a DIY image slideshow. Made up of a number of brief movements consisting of what sound like stock sound library samples, the tune evokes the feel of a soundtrack, and is named after the Spanish resort destination popular with British tourists. Meanwhile, the slideshow depicts a series of domestic scenes, including illustrations of a black man and a white woman separately washing and taking care of their dreads.

On the video's YouTube page, the uploader (circlejurkddd, who is presumably Blunt) clarifies that the track is not going to be on Black Metal 2, the follow-up to Blunt's 2014 debut on Rough Trade. The account previously uploaded a music video of sorts for Black Metal's "50 Cent" single.

Blunt has release tons of new music recently: Friday saw his Babyfather project release a new mixtape called 419, and earlier in the month he shared a collaboration with Swedish rapper Yung Lean. Before that, he teamed up with Warp Records-affiliated artist Gaika to share new work from a collaborative project.

Both "Benidorm" and 419 were announced on Twitter by the London imprint Hyperdub, a longtime affiliate of Blunt's.
