dOP's "Late Dub" Remix Of Alex Dimou Is All Afterhours Ambience

For his first release for Damian Lazarus' Rebellion label, Greek producer Alex Dimou recruited French trio dOP for double duty, having them deliver two remixes of his original tune "This Time," which features from South African renaissance woman Black Soda. The two dOP reworks that are easily divided into an "Early Remix" and "Late Dub." In both cases, the lush lyrics by the Cape Town photographer, writer, singer and producer are reduced to a mere echo, while the "Late Dub," in particular, lays way back in the pocket, the 4/4 kick of the other versions lost and replaced by a lumbering sub bass whoomp that only has the energy to come in on the one beat. Spry clicks and bells whirl like dust particles visible in the beam of dawn's first sunlight while seemingly infinite pads stretch to a time beyond the horizon when you know you'll have to go home. But for now leaving the dance floor seems impossible.
