At one point during the panel discussion at Berlin label PAN's takeover of Moma PS1 last month, label head Bill Kouligas mentioned that he had plans to release software-based work in the future, which was quite an exciting prospect. We didn't realize just how soon those plans would be realized: just a couple weeks later, Deceptionista by Aaron David Ross (of Brooklyn duo Gatekeeper) was announced, slated to coincide with the first of a series of online artist exhibitions on PAN's website, presented through a site-specific incarnation of Berlin-based artist and programmer Harm van den Dorpel's disjointed social media network deli near info.

On December 11th, the work will hit PAN's site and be available in a limited edition SD card as well as digital download. According to the press release, "Deceptionista combines the relentless unknowability of the real-time internet with ADR's distinct compositional approach, seeking to accelerate detailed, high-definition visions of public intimacies into a form of 21st century psychedelia." The visual presentation of the project will take the form of a "playable video game-like environment where users can explore various geometries and particle systems, all skinned entirely in video texture maps sourced from Vpeeker." Furthermore, the project will incorporate real-time video uploads from Vine.

Excitingly, the label has just gone ahead and uploaded the audio from the release to their SoundCloud, which you can stream below—it's challenging but intricately beautiful stuff. Pre-order Deceptionista from Boomkat here.
