Usually known for making cacophonous grime under his Partisan alias, UK producer Bunny Intonamorous is back with a new project under the Hypersport Ltd. alias Product 1.0.

Intonamorous first took up the Hypersport moniker last year as a means to explore a fascination with the maximalist, big beat and early trance-leaning soundtracks of video games such as 1996 futuristic racer Wipeout 2097 (which included tracks by consummate rave groups The Chemical Brothers, Underworld, and The Prodigy) and fighting game series Killer Instinct, as well as with the 1994 hacksploitation cult film Hackers, whose cyberpunk soundtrack gave electronic music a big look in popular culture.

According to a press release, Hypersport Ltd. sees the album as the soundtrack to an imaginary video game. Appropriately, after the ominous, beatless introduction of first track "Stadium Greeting," Product 1.0 barrels forward with heavy, in-your-face, retro-futuristic rave music that instantly incites the adrenaline rush required for virtual high-speed races, or going mano-a-mano with the final boss.

"I wanted to work with these sounds that had been some of my earliest exposures to dance music, as well as working with a very different vision of the future than one I was trying to paint with Partisan," Intonamorous tells THUMP. "I especially just wanted to throw everything at the wall with some big-beat shaping and chisel away until the tracks seemed coherent—as a result, I keep finding new layers I'd forgotten about on repeated listenings. The album itself has been in the can for around a year while I tried to figure out the best time to release it, but after my tour of the USA this summer, and given how well some of the material was received when I played it in sets, I figured there was no time like the present."
