Kickstart the Week With Techno Mainstay Heiko Laux's "There There (Drum)"

Check out the blistering track taken from an upcoming EP on his own Kanzleramt label.

When it comes to straight down the line, no messing about techno, Heiko Laux has been a force to be reckoned with for two decades now. In 1994 the German producer and DJ founded Kanzleramt, a label that's played home to the likes of Johannes Heil, Fabrice Lig and Zander VT over the years, becoming synonymous with club music that nestles somewhere between trance's euphoric force, minimal's skeletal heft, and techno's eyes-down-hands-up power.

Laux is a pretty prolific producer and last year saw him drop his ninth album, Fernweh, on, yep, you guessed it, Kanzleramt. He's done what people do these days and decided to get a load of producer pals to remix the thing. Split over two 12"s and digital releases, the Fernweh Remixes series features the likes of Marcel Dettman, Steve Rachmad and Ray Kajioka, as well as new material from Laux himself, and we've got a premiere of one of those hot new cuts right here on THUMP.

"There There (Drum)" is a subtle stomper, all rippling rhythm and dubby chords riding roughshod over the kind of synth-backbone that sounds like a severely malfunctioning Dyson Airblade. Which is a good thing, obviously. It's making us want stop working RIGHT NOW and find the nearest club that's still open at 11am on a Monday morning and fuck the rest of the week off. Which is another good thing, obviously. Listen to it in full below. See you down in Vauxhall, yeah?
