Kygo Gets 50 Shades Darker on Single for the Film's Soundtrack

Norwegian producer Kygo's march into the mainstream continues to gain momentum. Just days after hinting at a collaboration with pop star Selena Gomez, the face behind the trendy "tropical house" movement takes his sound from the beach to the bedroom with a new song on the official soundtrack for racy romance film Fifty Shades Darker.

The track is called "Cruise," and it features vocalist Andrew Jackson. The summery synths of Kygo's overall work still remain, but given the Fifty Shades of Gray sequel's darker tone, this track sounds more like hitting the beach after dark, where you'll probably stumble upon teenagers making out after drinking a bottle of Jack. It's mellow, but not bad—it's just kind of vanilla, but maybe that's to be expected when it's for a film that one critic wrote is "possibly the most boring movie ever made about kinky sex."

Listen to "Cruise" below. On the soundtrack, Kygo joins artists such as Taylor Swift, Zayn, Halsey, Sia, Tove Lo, and more.
