LA Techno Innovator PILO Signs to BNR, Drops a Mix, Goes Worldwide

"For people who ask me what I produce, I just say 'electronic music," says intrepid Angeleno producer and recent Boysnoize Records signee PILO. The driving, chunky and abstract techno beats of his Sentimental Schematics EP are an anomaly amongst homegrown talents in Los Angeles, a city in which techno is only now beginning to populate the underground. Perhaps that's why his tunes reached all the way to Berlin and the ears of Alex Ridha to get their chance to shine.

There's a local conduit to thank for all this: "Harvard Bass has become sort of like a mentor to me," says PILO. "I had 'Ubstraktion/Imply' in demo mode and he sent it out to Tiga and Boys Noize. After (Tiga's) Turbo released the Ubstraktion EP, Boys Noize hit me up to do an EP."

PILO's been welcomed with open arms into the BNR family, so much so that he's been handpicked to join Boys Noize on the BNR 10 Year Anniversary tour. "Its my first world tour!" PILO exclaims. "We are flying around so many places, from Berlin to Brussels to Paris to London to Munich, New York to Detroit to Chicago to my home Los Angeles. It's got a huge line up of so many legendary artists that i've looked up to my whole life. Its unreal. I still haven't processed it yet!"

Well, process this. Before he jet off to Europe, PILO put together a mix that gracefully paces the line he walks between techno tones, booty bass energy, and a touch of west coast swag.
