Lance Neptune Returns with an Atmospheric Beat Recorded During a Crazy Snow Storm

The Maryland upstart is setting the scene for his follow-up EP on Lone's Magicwire imprint.

The last time we caught up with Maryland newcomer

Lance Neptune, back in February of 2016, he was preparing for the drop of his debut EP on Lone's Magicwire imprint. Now, following a couple of remixes and new original released in June, the upstart is back with a new single, as well as news of a forthcoming follow-up EP for Magicwire. Like his previous Animal Eclipse EP, Neptune's new track "WaterFlakePond" demonstrates his penchant for the sublime and atmospheric—he mixes bright key strokes with periodic breaths of bass, concluding the song with ambient synth noodling. For such a calming tune, it was actually created during a night of treacherous weather.

"I was snowed in for a few days last winter and all I had was my Xbox and music," Neptune tells THUMP over email. "I made the song at about 3 AM during this crazy storm and sat on it for about a year. I kept building and adding to it and I eventually came up with 'WaterFlakePond.'" Check it out below.
