Lauren Lane's Latest For Eats Everything's Edible Imprint Offers Electro-Tinged Tech House

The 808 flavor of "FOMO" comes in advance of a new EP called 'Diary of a Madwoman'

There are few sounds more distinct than the classic tom of a Roland TR-808. And while the beloved drum machine has long been a staple of hip-hop and electro, its presence on mordern dance floors is something of a rarity. So obviously our ears immediately perked up when we heard that four note combo (mid-mid-hi-mid) coming out of the speakers on the latest tune by Los Angeles DJ/producer Lauren Lane, "FOMO."

Perhaps we shouldn't be so surprised given Lane's background, bred as a DJ in NYC, where the shadow of 80s freestyle and house music looms larger than it does on the West Coast. That's not to say "FOMO" is such a diversion from the tech house sound Lane's known for, but it's nice to see her taking chances on her first release for Edible, the imprint run by Eats Everything and Nick Harris. Having a well-regarded release on Nic Fanciulli's Saved Records would give anyone the confidence to explore further with their sound, and Lane's responded in kind with all three tracks of her new EP Diary of a Madwomanout January 29—showcasing a newfound boldness.

Feel the "FOMO" below.
