Rejoice, rejoice, for Matthias Zimmermann's finally got an album coming out on Sound Pellegrino! Five years after he sent over a few tracks to the guys behind the French label, the self titled debut's set to arrive in all good record shops on Friday the 10th of June, so you can feast on a record's worth of wonky European dance music whilst gorging yourself on the opening game of Euro 2016 and feel like a god amongst men.Label boss and THUMP favourite Teki Latex reckons that, "Only someone like Matthias Zimmermann, an artist from Wiesbaden, a relatively small city in Germany away from the two big musical poles of attraction that are Berlin and Paris, could imagine an island where human-shaped tracks flourish in an almost botanical way, evolving like ivy as they react to their surroundings using some sort of artificial intelligence programmed by the artist himself," and if Teki's saying that then you better believe it. We've heard the album and reckon he's bang on the money so we thought we'd let you have a listen to a track from it before you go wild and splurge on it tomorrow."Jordan" comes on like Zimmermann's thrown an old organ-heavy Chicago house record into a blender with his copy of Atavism by snd and then let "My Red Hot Car" era Squarepusher take the resulting paste out for a late night joyride. The result is a strangely sultry, stuttering, sax-tastic slab of left-field club music for those of us with brains for feet to go wild to in the club. Check it out exclusive below.
