NYC-by-way-of-Latvia producer Mess Kid has shared his bustling contribution to local label Doom Dab's forthcoming debut compilation Bad Mood. Taking inspiration from the classic, angelic slow-burner "Moments In Love," the track is built from a hybrid of styles ranging from dancehall to jungle, buoyantly toeing the line between tangled complexity and precision in its frenetic percussive motions.

The producer gave THUMP some background for the track via email. "'Moments In Love' is one of my all time favorite records which I would always play during my vinyl sets in NYC," he said. "I wanted to channel that and flip it into something minimal yet transcendent; a club-ready track for my New York family."

In a recent interview, he explained how he came to work with Le1f and Alexander Wang, and how he made a tape sampling old breakbeats and live metal recordings.

Bad Mood will be available for free download from the label's website on October 7; they'll throw a release party the next day at The Lot Radio in Williamsburg with DJ sets and live performances from some of the featured artists.
