      MIXED BY Dengue Dengue Dengue!

      March 11, 2014 7:00 PM

Down in Lima, Peru, there's a duo named Dengue Dengue Dengue!—and from what I understand, they pretty much run shit over there. On a Friday night you can find them behind a DJ booth somewhere in Lima's hip Barranco district, flanked by friends and family from their Colectivo Auxiliar label, holding court with a mix of psychedelic dancehall, cumbia, chicha, and dub mutations.

The duo is Lima's answer to the "future cumbia" wave that continues to sweep through Latin American metropoles like Argentina and Mexico City, and today's mix features a host of Peruvian friends like Animal Chuki and Elegante & La Imperial alongside artists like Sabbo in Tel Aviv, DCZ Deejays in Portugal, and El Buho in Amsterdam. For more background on the triple-Dengue duo, check their awesome video interview with Noisey, and for more info on digital cumbia—past and present—don't miss Jace Clayton's seminal piece of reporting in The Fader
