Start Listening to Good House Music in 2016 with Riva Starr's "The Superdope"

The Producer and label-head is kicking the year off with a bang.

While most of us are still shaking off the haze from the holidays and struggling with resolutions, Naples-born producer and Snatch! Records founder Riva Starr hasn't even had time to blink. Between hosting his label's first ever BPM Festival showcase in Mexico earlier this month, and releasing a Snatch! dub compilation record, Starr has still managed to put together a new EP of his own for Defected Records.

The Superdope EP is three tracks of grooving, bass-driven house music that's warm and tightly produced. Interspersing choppy vocals over slithering low synths, the album's title track is more minimal than either of the other offerings on the EP. Speaking to THUMP, Riva Starr explains, "The idea behind it was to create a house tune that would sound different from most of the other tracks around. The amazing vocal that we got really inspired us."

The Superdope EP is out on Jan. 25 through Defected Records.
