Kraak & Smaak’s “Alone with You” Video Will Make You Side-Eye Your Roommate

On their way to steal your girl.

Roommates: they're either your best friend or your worst enemy. They can be your hangover angel after a wild night out, with aspirin, water, and trash bin in hand. Or they might steal your clothes, blast Bon Jovi at 5 AM daily, and use your new pans for cooking ketamine. Or, as in the video for Kraak & Smaak's "Alone with You," your roommate could end up snuggling up to your ex. Fun!

Earlier this year, the Dutch trio released their fifth album, Juicy Fruit, a full-length radiating summertime funk and disco with the help of collaborators such as neo-soul artist Mayer Hawthorne, Florida rapper Eric Biddines, and K&S live band lead singer Berenice van Leer.

"Alone with You," featuring Australian singer-songwriter Cleopold, stars a pair of roommates—one seemingly an alpha-male type and the other with a shyer demeanor—in their swanky digs. While the former is making what should be all the right moves to woo his lady friend, the other is winning her over on the sly with his cheesy dance moves, sweet sequined blazer, and sense of humor.

"We love the work of LA director Gille Klabin who we have worked with on previous videos," Kraak & Smaak member Wim Plug tells THUMP over email. "We really like that he's given quite a melancholy song a light-hearted video with incredible production values."
