Take a Wander Around Printworks, London's Newest Venue

The multidisciplinary space is set to open in South London at the start of the new year.

Alright 2016, you fucker, let's at least try and end the year on a positive note—there's Christmas sandwiches in the shops, Ken Barlow's out of hospital and fabric's going to reopen! Three cheers for all that, eh?

Now let's throw another big, hearty, loud and proud "CHEERS!" into the mix for Printworks, a massive brand spanking new venue set to open in London early next year. Located down in Canada Water—not a part of London traditionally associated with multidisciplinary arts spaces—Printworks looks like it's the exact kind of space the city needs in an age when diversification is more important than ever.

Housed in the former facility used by the Metro and Evening Standard, Printworks will, so they say, "house a vibrant spectrum of events across arts, culture, fashion, music, film, food, immersive theatre, dance and more." Obviously while we here at THUMP love food and film and fashion (and begrudgingly respect immersive theatre) it's the dancing we're most excited about. We've been told that the first line-ups will be announced on the 1st of the December.

Run by London Warehouse Events and Broadwick Live, it's a contunuation of the good work done by LWE in other parts of the city. LWE had this to say about their new venture:

"Our business model has always been about finding new and exciting spaces in the capital; in 2014 we started music events in the beautiful grade 1 listed Tobacco Dock, in 2016 we launched Junction 2 at Boston Manor Park with the main stage on an island under a motorway bridge, we didn't think the best could be still round the corner, but it was, this is the icing on the cake. We can't wait to put our LWE stamp on it!"

Gareth Cooper, the CEO of Broadwaick, added the following:

"We're extremely proud and excited to be part of the team launching Printworks London, a new innovative concept that we hope will become one of the most sought after venues in London. A space that crosses so many boundaries, Printworks London will host an eclectic mix of entertainment from the best underground electronic music to immersive theatre experiences. Our dream is to add another notch to London's world class entertainment scene, and we can't wait to get started."

While you wait for that all important line-up announcement why not whet your whistle with the gloriously gloomy black and white video above?
