America's favorite festival headliner Pretty Lights, government name Derek Vincent Smith, is preparing to release his new full length album called A Color Map of the Sun, and we are already seeing a lot of excitement build up around it. Beat junkies everywhere are pre ordering packages of merch and music while listening to "Around the Block" over and over again, patiently waiting for the self-released album to drop on July 2.

Smith  conducted and composed all of the music for this record himself and worked with many musicians and vocalists in Brooklyn, New Orleans and Denver. "Around the Block" is a Brooklyn based song and video and there is nothing more New York than having Talib Kweli rap over your beats. Here we look at the making of the video and what inspired Pretty Lights to do it the way he did.
