Time Wharp's "Cole Dub" is "Weapon of Choice' Meets "Hideaway," on a Budget

It's just like the Fatboy Slim and Kiesza classics, but with all the choreography and training replaced with convulsions and enthusiasm.

NYC-based label Astro Nautico, headed up by LuckyMe releasing artist Obey City and having a fifth birthday party next week named [Space Camp](Their Space Camp party in NYC ), is quickly amassing a catalogue of internationally sourced, wonky indie-dance jams from the likes of The Range and Lord RAJA.

Now stepping up in the ranks is Brooklyn (via Atlanta) producer Time Wharp. The vid for the titular track on his 8-track Cole Dub EP is both entertaining and informative. We learned more about the human anatomy and obscure dance moves in a few minutes than we did during all of Step Up, Dirty Dancing, and Footloose combined.

In the video, the protagonist awakens from sleep and promptly beebops, jacks, hot-steps, wiggles, zags, and hot-potatoes his way around Brooklyn to Time Wharp's snappy jazz tune until he eventually reaches transcendence in the form of a flashing, neon reprieve.

Eventually, the man returns to bed, exhausted and spent and probably relieved his convulsions had subsided. The whole thing is like Kiesza's "Hideaay," but weirder, and with less of those fancy-pants ballet moves.
