Known to most of us as one of the kings of the Dance Mania crew, Charles Chambers, AKA DJ Funk, pretty much single handedly define and popularize an entire sub-genre of club sounds known as booty house. As you've probably gathered from the name, it's a sound that's lude, crude, raucous and raw. It's hyper-fst, hyper-frank, hyper-sexual club music that bounces and knocks with gay abandon. It's simple stuff — jackhammering kick drums, repeated vocal incantations, maybe even a hint of melody — but simple things can be, and often are, the best of all.His Booty House Anthems series of compilations have broadcasted Chambers' frantic and frenetic take on music to the wider world, helping him break free of the Chicago-Detroit reason. He tours the globe, smashing clubs from Taunton to Tokyo with his hard hitting odes to the power of pure pleasure. This Friday sees him team up with the likes of Farley Jackmaster Funk, Funkineven, and Interstellar Funk for Reviveher's 5th birthday bash at Corsica Studios. Ahead of that, we caught up with DJ Funk to get the lowdown on his essential booty house anthems."This one gets love all around the world!""Ehhh, I could never get sick of em!""Nuff said!""I'd play "Tits in My Face" to get everyones ass movin'. Yup!""Face down ass up.. and that's self explanatory.""Back in the 90's, before Daft Punk was huge, they asked me to do a booty record with them. I shouldn't have fucked that one up!"
