Colorado duo The Chainsmokers won Favorite Artist in the Electronic Dance Music category at the 2016 AMAs last night, winning out over Calvin Harris and Major Lazer. The controversial pair also performed their hit single "Closer" at the ceremony along with Halsey and special guest Travis Barker, following their previous performance of the song at this year's VMA Awards.

Andrew Taggart and Alex Pall were nominated for four awards in total, including New Artist of the Year (where they lost to Zayn) and Favorite Duo or Group in Pop/Rock (where they lost to Twenty One Pilots). Lastly, their single "Don't Let Me Down" featuring Daya was nominated for Collaboration of the Year, losing to to Fifth Harmony and Ty Dolla $ign's "Work From Home."

The event took place at the Microsoft Theater in Los Angeles, and marked the award show's fourty-forth edition.

In recent months, the chainsmokers have feuded both with Lady Gaga and Mark Ronson, doing little to dispel their frat bro image.
